Undergraduate Program Objectives

Unified Objectives for the College of IS&T:

  1. Students receiving a bachelor's degree from the College of IS&T are employed in a job that makes use of their education, and they compare facorably with students receiving degrees from four-year programs producing graduates who complete for jobs with College of IS&T graduates.
  2. The College of IS&T will recruit, retain, and graduate students from diverse populations.
  3. Students receiving a bacherlo's degree from the College of IS&T participate in life-long learning.
  4. Faculty in the College of IS&T contribute to the advancement of their disciplines through scholarly activity.
  5. Faculty in the College of IS&T regularly update their professional knowledge and skills, and continually develop and enhance programs to meets the needs of our students and community.
  6. Students, faculty, and staff in the College of IS&T participate in community and professional outreach.
  7. Resources available to the College of IS&T are appropriate to the programs offered and are used in an efficient and effective manner.

BCS Program Specific Educational Objectives:

Graduates of the BCS program will

  1. acquire knowledge of computer science in core areas and paradigms;
  2. gain analytical and experimental problem-solving skills in the computer science discipliine;
  3. identify solutions to computational problems and implement them using the knowledge acquired;
  4. develop the communication skills required for the computer science profession;
  5. accumulate experience in collaborative efforts of problem solving; and
  6. engage in continuing professional development and services.
